Internationall Weightlifting Guru Visitng BYU

The BYU throwers are excited about Rickard Nilsson coming this weekend to workout and do some coaching for us. For those of you who don't know who Rickard Nilsson is, his bio is posted below. Rickard is a former Olympian in weightlifting and is now the head strength and conditioning coach for all Swedish Olympic sports. He is an old friend of the Arrhenius' and has visited Provo before. We will post pictures and videos from his stay later.

Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Swedish Olympic Committee for 10+ years

Rickard has been competing or coaching at the world-class level for nearly 30 years. After 17 years of competition at the highest level, Rickard began training professional teams in hockey and soccer as well as helping world cup skiers. His success with these athletes, along with developing a very practical testing system, led to his hire by the Swedish Olympic Committee in order to better prepare the Swedish Olympians for competition as well as to improve the development of future Olympians. Rickard has had tremendous success. Athletes under his training regimen have set several world records in track and field and many Olympic medals in many sports. In addition, Rickard has trained several skiing world cup champions, championship teams in professional hockey and soccer, and many other athletes who have won major championships. He is sought after by many professional athletes and teams for his training expertise and is often a speaker at Governing Body conventions in Sweden and other countries for all sports.

Rickard’s background as an athlete:

* 2 Time Olympian in weightlifting (’88 and ’92)
* Competed in 17 World Championships
* Holds 25+ Swedish weightlifting records
