Stanford Invitational

Some throwers competed this last weekend at the Stanford Invitational. This was also the first meet for our javelin throwers Sean and Chris. The weather was really bad and the results weren't what the throwers all wanted.

This weekend Mitch and Zach will throw at a tri meet at USC, while the rest of us will throw at a meet at UVU. Results will be posted after the meets......

Oliver Is MWC Athlete of the Week!

Big congrats to Oliver for being conference athlete of the week. Oliver opened up well this last weekend in San Diego and is going to have an amazing season! Good job O!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Mar. 22, 2011) - BYU senior Oliver Whaley has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Co-Athlete of the Week. Whaley shares the honor with Air Force junior Robert Drye.

The product of Kayenta, Ariz., won the hammer throw title at the Aztec Invitational last weekend in San Diego, Calif. In his first competition of the outdoor season, the senior recorded a throw of 62.21m (204-01) in the event.

The mark is the best in the Mountain West this season and also ranks seventh in the NCAA in 2011, according to the website TFRRS.org.

National Championships

This weekend the NCAA Indoor Championships were held at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Leif competed in both the shot put and the weight throw. Leif threw a new pr of 19.92m in the shot put and won the competition. This is is first national championships. Leif threw 20.45m in the weight throw and got 9th place. The team ended up in 3rd place which is the best it's ever placed.
